A Positive Outlook
Insights by Jack Robinson.
We are pleased to publish our latest half-year report looking at the state of M&A in the UK Software and IT Services sector.
It also includes a special feature on data security & compliance and the results from our recent survey of owner-managers.
The nature of these reports is inevitably to be ‘behind the curve’ as there is a lag in transactions being recorded. This latest report shows that 2023 transaction volumes were c.20% lower than 2022. On the face of it disappointing, but this dip comes on the back of some spectacular deal making post-Covid. Compared to the long-term run rate transaction volumes are actually comparable with pre-2019 peaks.
There has also been a notable uptick in the first quarter of 2024 and on the ground we can confirm that we are busy. The appetite to acquire is high and owner-manager confidence is up, with over 50% of our survey respondents looking to sell in the next 2 years. Overall, a positive outlook for the rest of 2024.
